Hi, I am Chuck Guarino. All my family and friends call me "Papa Chuck".
Later in this section, you will also meet my son and partner in Grand Beach Realty "Larry Guarino".
I was the head lifeguard for the CNR at Grand Beach from 1940 to 1944.  In the summer of 1940, I was lifeguard at the CNR's magnificent Minaki Lodge in Ontario.  There was no road into Minaki, thus guests came by train from all areas of the USA.  The lodge also maintained a boat service to and from  Kenora,
Ontario,  which allowed guests travelling CPR to get to  Minaki Lodge.    Minaki Lodge guests swam in the Winnipeg River, at the front of the Lodge. For guests who could not swim, the Lodge maintained a wooden floating pool, adjacent to the swimming dock.  Water depth was about 15 feet deep off the dock, so only those guests who were strong swimmers used it.  For guests who liked diving, the lodge maintained  a  3 metre diving as well as a one  metre board.
